Earth Day

This event began 04/22/2026 and repeats every year forever

Earth Day is observed annually on April 22 to promote environmental protection and raise awareness about issues affecting the planet. The first Earth Day was held in 1970 in the United States, organized by Senator Gaylord Nelson in response to growing concerns about pollution, oil spills, and environmental degradation. The event drew millions of participants and is widely credited with helping inspire the creation of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and major environmental legislation such as the Clean Air Act and Clean Water Act.

Today, Earth Day is recognized globally, with more than 190 countries participating in activities that support conservation, sustainability, and climate awareness. Communities mark the occasion through clean-up events, educational programs, tree planting, and initiatives aimed at protecting natural resources and promoting responsible stewardship of the environment.
